The Bean Team's Skeeball Tournament for MS

On January 9th The Bean Team hosted a new fundraiser. For the first time this year we had a Skeeball Tournament with skeeBoston at The Greatest Bar in Boston. It was AWESOME! Everyone had so much fun playing skeeball and let me tell you people were competitive! Plus we had some really good players! It came down to two final teams in the playoffs. . . my aunt and uncle were one team and Dionne and Pat were there other team (I'll call them the "professionals" since they are from the skeeball league). Dionne and Pat won and were rewarded with some gift cards to local restaurants!

We had awesome raffle prizes and many happy winners who walked away with a fun prize! Thank you to all the businesses who donated. Also thank you to my fellow skeeball teammates Katelyn and Michelle who helped we get some of the raffle items! You'll have to read to the end to see how much we raised! :)

The grand total raised. . . $1,300!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is way more than I expected we would raise so I am very happy!

Again thank you to everyone who came to the event. We couldn't have raised this much money without you!

A few tips that made this event a success:

-Partnered with an organization (skeeBoston) to help things run smoothly

-Used Event Brite to "sell" tickets in advance (this was SO helpful)
There is a small fee for each person to buy a ticket but it is worth it. I knew how many people to expect and could prepare some of the bracket in advance. Also I had the money in advance which meant less cash to hold onto day of event!

-Got the bar to offer 1/2 apps so people could get cheap food

-Had 14 awesome raffle prizes to help raise even more money

-Had lots of help (my mom was the raffle ticket seller, Katelyn and Michelle helped teams with getting set up and the guys from skeeBoston taught teams how to keep score)

-Kept expenses low (this is key)!!!!

A few things I would/will do different (next year if we do it again):

-Set up bracket in advance so that teams are ready to go (doing it at the start of the event was a bit crazy)

-Bring a megaphone so people could hear when it was their turn (I ran around a lot and I was losing my voice)!

-???? (for those of you who were there anything else)???

Next fundraisers. . . Super Bowl Squares (now) and Trivia Night (April). . . details to follow!
