Head Of The Charles Regatta

Another one of my favorite fall traditions is Head of the Charles Regatta. I must admit that I hardly ever pay attention to any of the actual races but just all the excitement buzzing around the river is so much fun! I always thought it would have been fun to row (except for the early morning practices)!

It was a beautiful day and even though I got their late in the afternoon there was still a lot going on. My only disappointment was not being able to find fried dough for the 2nd year in a row. What the heck?!

To read my past posts from Head Of The Charles go here for 2014 and here for 2013!

Cranberry Harvest Celebration 2015

Last year I went to the annual Cranberry Harvest Celebration for the first time. You can read about it more here! We had such a great time that we knew we'd be back this year. It did not disappoint. It was a couple weekends ago and the weather could not have been more perfect!

I love the contrast between the color of the cranberries and the color of the sky. It is just so beautiful! This is what is called a "wet harvest" where they "flood" the cranberry bog to make all the cranberries float and then they can gather them!

We ran into one of my college friends, Danielle! It was so nice to catch up with her and her family (and she is the one who originally told me about this awesome event so only fitting I would see her there)!

The festival is divided into two sections - this section is where you can actually see the cranberries being harvested, go on a wagon ride through the tour, see an owl show and there are tents with lots of samples! The other side of the festival has lots of food vendors, crafts, and activities for the kids. It is a huge festival!

The sky was so blue! It was so nice to be outside all day but let me tell you it is a long day! I was exhausted by the time we left! They really do a nice job putting this festival together and I'm so glad I got to go again this year. This fall really has been amazing weather wise and living in New England gives so many great opportunities to really enjoy fall! I love it!

20th Anniversary MAAV Walk

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and every year MAAV has a walk and candlelight vigil. It is a fundraiser and it is also a time to remember this victims in Massachusetts. We light a candle and say each victims' name to honor them. Each year we hope the number will get smaller but until it is zero we will have this event! This year it was extra special because MAAV was celebrating 20 years! That is pretty amazing for a small community organization!

This year we did a community art project that was a weaving project. It was to draw the connection that it takes the community to weave together all their skills, energy and efforts to be successful. We had the weavings on display at the walk!

The founders (pictured above) were presented by Rebecca (MAAV Director) with our annual Advocacy and Action award.

My work team! So thankful that these coworkers took time out of their weekend to support MAAV! It was a cold day for a walk but they made the best of it!

The MAAV Walk Committee, Board and staff who all worked hard (for almost a year) to make this event possible!

We raised the most money we've ever raised at this event!!!!! Over $50,000 and 650 people! We are so grateful and don't know how we will ever top it next year! It is a good problem to have right?!

Fashion Plates Brunch - Where Models Actually Eat!

Fashion Plates is just 39 days away which is SO exciting because it is such a fun day but also a bit sad because November means colder, darker days in Boston. So let's just focus on the positive! In case you haven't heard the news I'm modeling again this year after a year off and I couldn't be more excited!

Yesterday the Fashion Plates Committee and the models got together for brunch. I don't know what you've heard about models in regard to eating but let me set the record straight. . . Fashion Plates models like to eat (and drink champagne)! Check out the food below. Piper is always such a gracious hostess to open her home to all of us. We had such a nice time.

In addition to eating, drinking and talking we got done to business too. We stuff invitations and scheduled are fittings with the two stores who will be dressing us. I'm so excited to find out what I'll be wearing!

I would love to have a table (or two) filled with friends and family to cheer me on as I walk the runway! So buy your tickets now and make sure to put my name down as "table captain."
