Newport With Kate And Emily

A few weeks back Kate, Emily and I took a day trip to Newport. I love day trips especially in the summer and this one did not disappoint! It was a hot day but we took it slow visiting a winery and then lunch. . . so relaxing!

I had never been to Newport Vineyards but it had always been on my "to visit" list! I was happy to finally check it out! It is really pretty! They offer tastings, tours and wine by the glass. We went for the tasting (at $12 it is a great deal)! We loved being able to choose from all of their wines and my favorite was their Tranquility blend! I almost bought a bottle but it was $22 and I decided I didn't really need it (living on a budget is hard)!

After our tasting we jumped back in the car and drove downtown. We scored an awesome metered parking space right across the street from the main shops! We walked around a bit and checked out the restaurants before choosing Salt Water.

Anyone who knows me knows that when I saw this sign I was sold! I mean come on, a sangria bar!? What could be better than that!

I tried the Head Sail and it was delicious! I had a yummy sandwich too! Kate and Emily enjoyed their lobster rolls (I don't eat seafood). We sat outside (but in the shade) and had a great view of the boats and water. It was really nice!

Oh and of course it would be a trip to a "beach town" without stopping for fudge! Kilwins is one of my favorites so I couldn't resist. I got the Sea Salt Caramel and it was so good.

Since we took such a leisurely lunch (and ate late) it was time to head out once we finished. We had such a great day that I didn't want to leave! I'm so glad we didn't something different though and took a day trip instead of just meeting up for lunch in Boston!

Since anything goes. . . this is my What I'm Loving Wednesday post! I love day trips and I love my girlfriends so it totally works. You should link up too!!! Just grab our button for you post and write about anything you love!

Walk This Way. . .

I went for my longest training walk to date yesterday. . . just over 11 miles! I actually didn't plan on going that far but Erica and I decided we had to check out the new City Target so we just kept walking. We saw some beautiful views throughout the city on our way! It was hot but we started at 7:30 AM to try to beat the heat.

The MS Challenge Walk is 25 days away. My training is going really well.  My fundraising is going well too but I'm still about $2,000 from my goal so if you want to donate I would love you forever! :)

This little pond along the Charles River is one of my favorite spots. . . the flowers finally bloomed so it was looking even prettier yesterday!

Would you believe that Erica has never been on the Swan Boats?! I mean really. That is just unacceptable. I almost dragged her on but we were pretty hot and sweaty and didn't want to scare the kids. Lol!

I hadn't been on this side of Fenway Park since Pedro's number was retired so I had to grab a pic! Love Fenway!

The new City Target is pretty awesome. It was so clean, organized and well stocked. But the best part was that it sold alcohol! Wine and beer selection was amazing! If I wasn't too tired to carry wine I would have bought some. Oh and they have a good Red Sox section of shirts plus this cool display of bats, balls and Spot!

And then I took the bus home from Kenmore b/c it I walked another step I might have collapsed! Just kidding I was actually feeling quite good for that distance. Pretty happy about that. Oh and no blisters which is saying something since I always get blisters. Must be those new amazing (free) sneakers I got!

Blogger Dinner at Terramia

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Terramia in the North End with Blog and Tweet Boston. It was such a delicious meal! I love going to dinner in the North End and this restaurant did not disappoint. Our server Gabriel treated us well and was very knowledgeable about the menu and history of the restaurant!

Terramia has been opened since 1993 yet I had never dined there before. I was excited to try a new restaurant in the North End (one of my favorite neighborhoods to eat in) and it did not disappoint. We were welcomed with a glass of Prosecco which was followed by our choice of red or white wine.

It was so nice to catch up with some of my blog friends. It has been a while since I had been to a Blog and Tweet event and as usual it was a lot of fun with tons of food!! See for yourself in the photos below. . .

For appetizers it was "family style" and then we could choose any entree to order for dinner. I had the risotto of the day and it was so good! Some of the other meals are below. Everyone raved about their food so I don't think you could go wrong with anything you picked!

The dessert was amazing as well. My favorite of the three was chocolate cake but I was so full from all the food I couldn't eat more than a few bites! The owner Carla dropped by during dessert to welcome us and thank us for coming to her restaurant. She was so sweet and it was so nice to meet her in person.

I will definitely be back to the Terramia in the future. Who wants to join me?!

Nothing Like A Water Ballon Fight!

Have you guys seen these water balloons that fill up and tie themselves?! Well I was intrigued and had to try them for myself (well with my nieces of course)! I picked up my package at CVS for 10 bucks and let me tell you.  .  . they worked!!! We had SO much fun!

My nieces were so excited when I showed them the package. Of course they had seen the water balloons advertised on tv and must have asked me 100 times when we would do them! Luckily the following day (on the Cape) was a beautiful day and we put the water balloons to the test!

The broke really easily when they made contact with a person or the driveway! It was so much fun throwing them at each other. The girls got the hang of it very quickly!

It didn't take us long to make our way through all 100 balloons! It was so much fun! Then we had to walk around the driveway and pick up all the balloon pieces (which wasn't as much fun). If you see these balloons buy them. I already bought another package and hope we get a chance to have another water balloon fight before the end of the summer!

How To Make A DIY Banner

This spring/summer I've been getting crafty with DIY banners. They are SO easy and really expensive to make. I thought I would do a "how to" blog post in case you want to make one too!

I made this one for my friend who recently adopted a little girl. I took some family photos of them under it when she first came to live with them! It matched the adoption shirts I gifted them!

I made these two 4th of July banners which I also used for Memorial Day! I love the way they came out and thought they looked so cute on my collage wall!

1. Scrapbook paper -  I picked mine up on sale at Michael's
2. Scissors
3. Hole punch
4. Twine, ribbon, string - Anything you like to string your banner
5. Tape - If you are going to attach letters to your banner like I did for my "family banner"
6. Stencil - I printed mine out from google
7. Pencil - To trace your stencil onto your scrapbook paper
8. Paper cutter - If you have one it helps to keep things straight but you can use scissors too

The photos are pretty much speak for themselves to tell you what to do! Trace, cut, punch, string! Then you'll have an adorable banner to hang!

Please note - my bed is NEVER made! I made it especially for this DIY project! I love the way the colors in the banner coordinate with my quilt!

I'm linking up for What I'm Loving Wednesday with Rachel b/c I LOVE crafty/DIY projects. Sorry I've been MIA from the link-up for a few weeks! I'm back!! :)
