Italy Vacation: Venice (Canals, Bridges & Boats)

Remember when I went on vacation to Italy and then spent the rest of my life blogging about it?!  Ok so maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration but I do feel like this is the longest it has ever taken me to wrap up a vacation.  The good thing about stretching it out on the blog is I can keep reliving it and how amazingly awesome it was.

We wrapped up our trip in Venice and for me it was love at first sight!  You'll see why at the end of this post (hint: sunset photos).

{These photos are not in chronological order which is why you'll see me in a few different outfits.}

Venice is like no other city I have ever been to before.  How often do you go to a city that has NO CARS!?  It has no cars because it has no roads. . . just canals!  It is a great place to wander around until you get lost.  So many little alley ways, bridges and canals to see and explore.  I loved ex

I took a lot of these photos while riding the "water bus" which is the way to get around on the canals.  Think subway but instead of an underground train it is a boat!  It was a great way to see the city and I loved all the views from the canals.  We explore the rest of the time on foot and this is just one of many bridges that we walked over.

So this photo will forever be known as "the crotch shot."  I named it that and there is a story behind it.  See the photos above this photo. . . the ones with the beautiful, colorful flowers in the window boxes?!  Well Stacy and I wanted a photo in front of those.  So we checked out the people in the area and picked the perfect photographer. . . or so we thought.  He had a "fancy" camera so we figured he knew how to take a good photo.  But unfortunately he thought kneeling down and pointing the camera up would be a "good" angle.  We ALL know that is NOT a good angle.  Not to mention you can hardly see the flowers behind up that we wanted in the background!

The funniest part was his girlfriend/wife was playing cheerleader behind him while looking at the digital camera screen. . . "oh honey that's a good one" and other positive comments like that.  They whole time I'm doing a fake smile while thinking what the heck?!  Oh and would you believe this is the GOOD one.  The one on my camera was HORRIBLE!  Haha!

At least it all made  for a good story. . . and now Stacy and I will always have this beautiful crotch shot from Venice.

These sunset photos are why Venice make an excellent first impression.  Stacy and I arrived to Venice in the late afternoon/early evening but we got held up in the train station for a while due to Stacy leaving her wallet on the train (which then must have been stolen).  The police and train station staff were literally NO HELP at all so it was all a big waste of time but we at least had to try to recover it. Anyways by the time we left the station it was time for sunset but little did we know that we were going to have the BEST view for it.

It was one of the most spectacular sunsets I've ever seen.  I grabbed my iPhone and snapped the above photos and thinking back I'm not sure why I didn't grab my real camera.  These colors are just unreal.  I just feel so lucky to have witnessed it.

I have one more Venice post to share with you.  I have way too many gorgeous photos to jam them all in one post.
