Today is Marathon Monday. It is also a holiday in Massachusetts, Patriot's Day. Of course most of us celebrate the Boston Marathon more than Patriot's Day, especially this year. This is the 118th running of the Boston Marathon and there are over 35,000 runners this year including several of the survivors from last year.
I'm so proud to be a Bostonian. Today is going to be a great day. I'll be out on the marathon route cheering on all of the brave runners as they take back our city!!
Jeff Bauman book signing then proceeded to read the book Stronger in a couple of hours. It is very good and worth the read. It gives some info that I did not know and I most appreciated how honest he was in talking about his feelings. I can't even imagine what it must be like to suddenly be "famous" especially for something so horrible. He is a brave man and I have a lot of respect for the way he has handled everything.
Sports Illustrated took a photo at the finish line. Over 3,000 people showed up and I would have been there but I was away in DC. Very cool of SI to do this! I love it!
If you are a fan of Alex and Ani bracelets then head over to Rue La La today for a special Boston bangle with proceeds going to The One Fund. I already ordered mine. Still hoping they will make one that says Boston Strong!
In case you are interested in reading a bit more about the history of the Boston Marathon you can read this post I wrote in 2011 and this post about my cousin Katelyn running on the MS team!
