Boston Wine Expo

A couple of weekends ago I went to the Boston Wine Expo.  It was my first time going.  I've wanted to go for years but could never justify spending the money.  This year I didn't have to because I won 2 tickets through a contest on Jen's blog.

The expo was at the World Trade Center at the Seaport.  It was huge!  It was a bit overwhelming when we first walked in but it was laid out well and easy to get around to all the vendors during the event.

Our first stop was at Barefoot because we saw everyone walking around with purple reusable bags from them.  We wanted to get one to carry all our stuff in.  Oh and since we were there we tasted every.single.sample.  Did you know they  have flavored champagnes?  SO SO good!  I will be buying some next time I'm in the mood for bubbles!

Rachel and I get along well because we have the same taste in wines.  We both love bubbles and sweet white wines.  We made sure to try all the bubbles, Pinot Grigios and Moscatos!  We tried some reds too but liked the whites the most.

Did you know they made a wine called "Stray Dog?"  This wine had Rachel's name written all over it.  If you read her blog you know her love for shelter dogs.  She would probably have 8 in her home right now if her husband would allow.  She has already looked into fostering in VA!!  (By the way when you buy the wine they make a donation to ASPCA so you can feel good about drinking since you're contributing to a good cause)!

The event was divided into regions of the world.  So basically we went around the world in one afternoon.  Ha!

Alex and Ani are very smart.  They had a beautiful display set up with all of their bracelets for sale.  So after a few samples of wine we were in the mood to shop.  We figured since we didn't buy the tickets we could spend a little on a bracelet!  We asked a lady to take our photo and she was pretty drunk so they all came out a little fuzzy!  Although I noticed my photos aren't much better.  I'll blame that on the bad lighting and my old iPhone!

It was a fun afternoon.  We easily got around to the whole expo during our time there (it was open from 1 to 5 and we got there around 1:30).  It is around $90 a ticket and I definitely didn't drink $90 worth of wine.  I'm not sure I would ever spend that much to attend this event as I'd rather buy a new outfit or go out for a nice dinner but it was a good time (especially for free).

I think my favorite thing was being able to try so many different types of wine from so many different countries.  You had all the more common wines mixed in with more unique wines.  So great variety. . . I wish there had been more food samples.  We were hungry!

Have you ever been to the Boston Wine Expo?
