Snowy Boston

You may have heard that Boston got some snow.  A lot of snow actually.  Not as much as the big storm we got last February but enough to cancel school and require a lot of shoveling!  In case you didn't know I dislike snow.  A lot.  But I was getting cabin fever and decided to venture out in the freezing cold temps to take some photos while the snow still looks pretty!  Oh and did I mention that it has been in the single digits?  Yeah we are talking REALLY cold.

Public Garden (aka my favorite spot in Boston)

Make Way For Ducklings

Boston Common

 Frog Pond

Beacon Hill

Charles Street

Some observations from my afternoon. . .

-It felt surprisingly warm in the sun considering how cold it actually was.
-Maybe the fact that I had on several layers of clothing helped!
-I only saw 2 snowmen and they were not as good as the one I made last winter!
-I want to live in Beacon Hill.
-I love the way the snow looks blue from reflecting off the sky.
-The Public Garden pond is frozen and there were a lot of people walking on it.
-There were a lot of people out doing stuff - sledding, skating, running, walking. . .

This is highly likely to be the one and only time I venture out into the city this entire winter.  So please enjoy the overload of photos above.  If you need me the rest of the winter I will be hibernating in my bed under many blankets!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

P.S. All of these photos except for the 2 selfies are taken with my camera.  They are all unedited.  The color of the sky was actually that blue!  One of my 2014 goals is to get back to using my camera more.  I love my iPhone and will still use that too but my camera needs to come out more than it did in 2013.

  1. I was out today, it was 28 here and it felt like a heatwave. Sad!

Great pics! Beacon Hill looks gorgeous in snow, I've never walked around there in the snow.

  2. Pretty snow! I like it when it snows, but I like it to go away quickly.

  4. I didn't know they decorated the ducks for Christmas! So cute! We got some snow too, but only about 5 inches. It was enough for a two-hour delay at work but not enough for a total shutdown! Stay warm! :)

  6. It really is pretty but I was enjoying it more from my couch! ;) Seamus couldn't take the cold either and made me carry him. It did get to -1 on Friday or Saturday morning. The days mushed together. Glad for the rain today though to wash some of it away!

  7. So, so, so pretty! I'd love some snow, but just for a few days. We shut down here in Seattle because of all the hills and no one really knowing how to drive in it. I don't envy that you have to dig yourself out every morning, but man, is it pretty!
