Long Weekend In North Conway

Thursday I left work and drove straight to North Conway, NH for a long weekend with some of my family members!  My parents have a time-share that we have been going to since I was very young.  It is a summer tradition and although I don't get there every summer I try to go every few years.  We were lucky to have beautiful weather.  We shopped at the outlets (of course), went out to eat and well that is about all I did actually. . . ha!  See for yourself in my picture overload (all pics taken on my iPhone but still some pretty amazing views)!

This is the view across the street from our time-share.  It is SO pretty!  You can even see Mt. Washington from here!

The pictures below are the view from the top of Cathedral Ledge.

Our time share is actually named after Cathedral Ledge and when you are on top of the ledge you can see the buildings! My mom and dad in front of the sign (my mom wanted to compare it to a pic of them standing there MANY years ago)!

Besides the amazing views, North Conway is known for many other things.  One being the train station in the center of town.  It is a North Conway landmark and a must.  If you have time you can take a scenic train ride too - we didn't do it this time but have in the past.

Of course North Conway is also very well known for the outlets (discounted shopping and tax free - yes please)!  In addition to outlets North Conway has the cutest downtown.  There are several shops that have a very "small town" feel.  My favorites are The Penguin, the 5 and 10 and Zeb's General Store.  You can always find unique things in each of these stores and penny candy too!!  If you visit make sure you check out these three stores.

A newer addition to North Conway is White Mountain Cupcakery which is the winner of Cupcake Wars and take it from me they deserved it.  The cupcakes are delicious.  We bought four and my favorite was most definitely the Almond Joy.  OMG!  So good.  It is probably a good thing that I don't have easy access to this place or I would eat them way too often.

The staff were all so friendly.  They make gluten free cupcakes on Saturdays and have homemade cookies too.  When we walked in it smelled so good.  I just wanted to sneak into the kitchen and lick the bowl!

By the way my nieces couldn't even begin to appreciate the greatness that was these cupcakes.  Peyton didn't even want one (WHAT?!) and Ella picked the one covered with rainbow sprinkles and then didn't even eat it!  More for me!!

One of the nights we had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, May Kelly's Cottage.  May is actually there working hard!  She is the sweetest lady and has the best Irish accent!  The food is great and the atmosphere is so cute.  Check it out if you ever visit.  We always have a good time here.

I am completely OBSESSED with this necklace.  I saw it the first day there but didn't buy it due to the price and not really needing it.  But that didn't last long b/c the next day I made my way back to the Banana Republic Outlet and purchased it.  I'm SO glad I did.  I LOVE it.  The colors are my colors for sure and it goes w/ so many things I own.  I had brought this dress to wear and never had a necklace to wear w/ it - so I was even happier when I realized this new necklace matched perfectly.  I love when that happens!

The last night there the girls went home w/ grammy and grampy after dinner and the big kids went out for drinks!  We went to a "martini bar" (I use that term loosely b/c it wasn't a trendy NYC style bar it was more of a hotel lodge lobby - haha) but the drinks were good.  We then went to an Irish bar where I had my new favorite drink - they called it a Lime Rickey but basically it was grape vodka, Sprite and lime juice.  SO good.

So that was my weekend in North Conway.  I had such a nice time being away from work for a days!  So glad we got to spend some family time together.  I love weekends that include beautiful mountain views, shopping, eating out, drinking, playing w/ my nieces and relaxing.  That all makes for a fabulous weekend!

P.S.  If you are planning a trip to North Conway there are so many other things to do in the area.  My family went to Storyland, Santa's Village, Attitash (waterpark) and mini golf.  There are also tons of "outdoor" activities like hiking, kayaking, horseback riding and moose tours!  We've done so many fun things in North Conway over the years.  It really is a fun place to visit.

Linking up with the birthday girl, Leeann!  Go wish her a happy 30th!!!!
