On Friday it poured all day. Like really heavy rain. All day long. I was freaking out b/c we had "lawn seats" for the Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson concert. Outdoor concert in the rain is not my idea of a good time. Fortunately the rain finally stopped about an hour before the concert.
The lawn was like a giant slip and slide. A muddy hill filled with drunk people in the dark means a lot of slipping and sliding (and laughing from us).
The concert was AMAZING! Like seriously one of the best concerts I've been to. Kelly Clarkson went first and she has the most incredible voice. I've loved her since her American Idol days. She has so many great songs and it was so fun to sing out loud at the top of our lungs.
Then Adam Levine and the rest of Maroon 5 took the stage and the awesomeness continued. Wow! They put on quite a show. They sang all of their big hits and continued with singing out loud. A few screams may have been heard when Adam took his shirt off (yes that did happen and I had pictures so prove it only I was so far away you can't really tell - haha).
My favorite of the night was when they sang "She Will Be Loved." That is my all time favorite song by them and it started out in an "unplugged" version which was amazing.
We had so much fun and I'm so glad the weather cooperated. I would highly recommending seeing either of these 2 in concert if you ever have a chance.
Saturday morning (after only about only 5 hours of sleep) I was up bright and early to head to the Cape. I had to catch an early ferry to Martha's Vineyard for my Blate! Meg of BBH with MS. Meg and I became blog friends recently but when I heard she would be coming from Seattle to MV for a family vacation I knew I had to jump at the chance to meet her. Meg and I connected very quickly since we both have MS and it is always so nice to chat w/ someone who "gets" it.
We spent the whole day at the beach. It is a small but gorgeous beach right down the street from her parent's. We even took a golf cart to get there. Such fun!
Looking at this all day isn't too bad. It was a gorgeous day. Not too hot and not too cold. Hardly any clouds in the sky and a nice breeze. . .
The Black Dog is a MV landmark!
Such a fabulous day! Meg is awesome. She is the type to say it like it is which I love. She is a great mom which is apparent but her kids who are pretty cool (especially for pre-teens and teens)! She has had her struggles w/ MS but despite it all she remains hopeful and optimistic. She has such a great attitude and it was so nice to get to know her better. Hopefully we'll be able to have a follow up blate next summer!
Falmouth Road Race to see my sister-in-law Jenn run in it. This was her longest race (7 miles) to date and she is a fairly new runner. Such a great accomplishment for her! Too bad we actually didn't see her coming and she had to yell for my attention! There are so many runners it is hard to spot people. Luckily I did spot my friend Lynn and cheered for her as she went by.
My brother and nieces were at the finish line to cheer Jenn on as she finished. We made our way out of town (stopping for a DQ on the way out - never too early for an ice cream).
After the race I enjoyed a much needed nap - hey watching runners makes me tired. I drove home from the Cape late last night and only hit a little bit of traffic which is always a big success!
Awesome weekend. I may be in denial that there are only a few summer weekends left. I can't even deal with summer coming to an end. So here's hoping to a few more great weekends just like this!
Linking up w/ Leeann for Monday Morning Gossip.
