This Weekend I. . .

I had a very busy weekend with very little time for napping (my favorite weekend activity).  I need a weekend to recover from my weekend!  Despite the no napping it was very fun.  Here goes. . .

Friday night I bought my first ever pair of prescription sunglasses.  I had a lot of money to use on my Flex Spending (have to use it by the end of March).  So I figured I would splurge on some Coach sunglasses.  They are nice.  Picking them up tonight.  It will be so nice to be able to see while I'm driving!

On Saturday Katelyn and I volunteered at the MS Climb to the Top.  Have you heard about these events where people climb up the stairs in really tall buildings?  I decided volunteering would be less painful!  Ha!

The man in the middle of the top left photo was the winner.  He actually broke a record for climbing the John Hancock tower faster than anyone ever has (in any event).  He came from Austria to do the event and I guess he has done around 80 of these types of events.  He climbed 61 flights in just over 6 minutes.  Crazy!

Also impressive are the firefighters who do the climb in full gear.  That uniform and gear is very heavy (and hot).  They were pretty quick too!

The views from the top are beautiful.  This was my first time at the top of the John Hancock since I'm pretty sure they closed the observation deck after 9/11.  It is a great view but you definitely get a little dizzy looking out those windows.  (Extra points if you can spot Fenway Park)!

Since we had to get up at 5:30 to be there at 6:00 AM for volunteering we most definitely deserved delicious brunch afterwards.  Katelyn and I went to a nearby restaurant and had a yummy mimosa and waffle w/ strawberries!

On Sunday I had a date with Peyton and Ella.  We went to do our annual "bunny" pictures.  You'll have to wait until a bit closer to Easter to see the photos.  After the pictures we went to lunch at Bertucci's.  The girls LOVE this restaurant since they give them dough to play with.  Peyton made it into a beard and moustache so of course I had to teach her about the unibrow.  Too funny!

Oh and they were both so generous to share their dessert with me - don't be fooled - it was only b/c they didn't want the chocolate ice cream that was swirled with the vanilla.  Who doesn't like chocolate ice cream!?

We had a lot of fun doing the pictures, lunch and walking around the mall.  The girls love to ride the escalator.  We could probably waste an hour doing just that.  We stopped into Build-A-Bear after they begged.  I told them we were not buying anything.  Ella proceeded to say, "This is so boring not buying anything."  I guess she hasn't learned about "window" shopping!

Last night I went grocery shopping for some healthy food.  Today I start Clean Eating.  I did a ton of food prep last night so I would have healthy food to bring to work all week.  I need to make some serious changes to my eating habits and today is day 1.  I'll let you know how it goes.

And then just like that we are back at Monday.  The weekends go by way too fast.  This week should be a little less busy than last week so I hope to get back into going to bed early.  Staying up until 11:00 PM just doesn't work for me.

Happy Monday!  Looking forward to "The Women Tell All" tonight!

  1. Those sunglasses are super cute! I've never heard of that event, but it sounds interesting. When we move back to the States I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

  2. Looks like a busy and fun weekend! I'm loving your Coach sunnies! I need some prescription sunglasses for when I'm not wearing my contacts! Good luck with starting Clean Eating! You'll do great :)

  3. 61 flights in 6 mins? HOLY COW. I would die. That guy is amazing! LOVE those sunglasses too!

  4. I need to get back to my regular routine of Sunday food prep. I've been scrambling the past few weeks.

    Kudos for you volunteering!

  5. Happy Monday Love!!!
My online closet opened today, I would love for you to check it out!
    Have a great day.

  6. That waffle looked delicious! And I give you lots of kudos for getting up that early to go do volunteer work. That's pretty awesome! Looks like you had a great weekend! Hope your Monday goes by quickly!

  7. I've heard about those stair runners & definitely a good call just to volunteer! Lol. I usually run stairs once a week [I say run, but really I just walk] and it is a KILLER. I can't imagine doing it at that speed without falling, lol.

Can't wait to hear about the Clean Eating! I've seen more & more blog posts about it but haven't committed to anything...

  8. Ok, I'm totally looking to see if I can use my funds for prescription sunglasses. I don't know why I don't have them!

  9. I need to do better at actually planning my meals. That event sounds interesting!

  10. so i just wrote out a super long comment and then it went away..eek! but clean eating will be tough but I am sure you will feel awesome!

  11. Those girlies are SO ADORABLE!!!

I've never watched the Boston marathon before, but someone was telling me recently how inspiring it is to see the military walking with all their gear. I can imagine this was similar...people are so good, aren't they?!

  12. This sounds like it was a fabulous weekend! You got so much done! :-)

  13. Cute sunglasses! Maybe instead of the Boston Marathon, I can come out for the stairclimb next year! The girls are seriously too cute- I can't wait to see the bunny shots! Please share more on the clean eating- I need to do that too!!!

  14. I always love seeing the adorable photos of the little ones on your instagram! It sounds like you had a really wonderful weekend xo

  15. Wow, what a view from the John Hancock!! I'd probably get dizzy too with those floor to ceiling windows-- whoa. I've seriously thought about trying to eat clean, but I don't know if I could convince my housemate. And cooking two separate meals would be annoying. Let me know how it works for you, though, and I may give it a shot! :)

  16. Wow! You sure did have a great weekend, So busy and full of great things! That's so impressive that they climb ALL of those stairs. AND in their gear? Amazing!

I feel like I may have went to that building went I was in Boston. I know we ate at some fancy restaurant in the tallest building in the city.

Thanks for linking up for Monday Morning Gossip :)
