Treats

I love when this happens. . . when you discover a hidden jewel in your own neighborhood. . . well that is exactly what happen to me last night.

I've walked by Treats on Washington Street hundreds of times but for some reason I never went in.  I'm kicking myself in the behind for that now.  It is AMAZING!

Last night I had the chance to attend a tasting and I'm so glad I did.  I'm still full from all of the sampling I did.  Everything was so good and I can't wait to go back there soon.  It is only a five minute walk from my apartment.  Score!

Treats offers an assortment of hot and cold beverages, savory dishes and sweet dishes.
They have "treats" for each meal of the day!

The menu does change with the season but don't worry. . . some of the best items are always available!

We started out by tasting some savory items (must eat "dinner" before dessert)!
This mini version of the garden vegetable sandwich was delicious.  I love roasted veggies and the bread was soft and flavorful.

Next up I tasted the two soups of the day, minestrone and curried lentil which was vegan.  The curried lentil was my favorite.  I also hear they have a tomato garlic soup which is delicious so I look forward to trying that.

Next up I had to cleanse the palette with some homemade soda.  This was cranberry ginger and it was very tasty.  I love ginger!

Time for dessert!  First up I had one of these little chocolate peppermint macaroons.  OMG it was awesome!  They were soft and chewy with just the right amount of peppermint.  {I took 2 home and I can't wait to eat them tonight!}
*This tied for my favorite.

These chocolate chunk meringues were also delicious.  So light and chewy.  Yum!
*This was my other favorite of the night!

The cinnamon buns were beautiful to look at and tasted great.  I tried the one with cream cheese frosting and it was so good.  I can definitely see myself craving one of these on a Sunday morning!

I was actually too full to taste the ginger meringues (gasp!) but one of the other gals there did and said it was delicious!

I forget the names of these little suckers. . . Russian tea cookies maybe?  They were yummy too!

I didn't get to taste the chicken pot pie (picture taken from website) but I will be going back for one of these.  I love chicken pot pie and they looked delicious!

It is so nice to know there is such a high quality bakery in my neighborhood.  No need to go downtown for sweet snacks anymore!

I have a feeling I will be visiting Treats frequently!

Have you been?  If not I highly recommend a visit.  Jessica and Dana, the owners are lovely and talented!  They are a welcomed addition to my neighborhood!

P.S. They also do catering so keep them in mind for your next event!

  4. The Russian Tea Cookies look similar to Mexican Wedding Cakes. Maybe the same? Looks delish.
