My MS Anniversary - 4 Years

I never really know how to commemorate this day.  You see this day is worth recognizing but celebrating?!  Four years ago today, on a Friday afternoon, I heard the words

"You have MS."

Those words would and did change my life. . .

So here I am, four years later and living life to the fullest.  Has MS changed my life?  YES!  But I wouldn't have it any other way (well that is a lie I could actually do without the shots).  Honestly, it has been a difficult journey at times but has also allowed me incredible opportunities that I likely never would have experienced.

In the time since I was diagnosed with MS, I have raised thousands and thousands of dollars, I have walked 50 miles in 3 days, I have walked the runway in a fashion show, I have been interviewed on the radio and in newspapers, I  have started a blog, I have met the most incredible people, I have learned to give myself the dreaded shots, I have survived.

I'm alive and well.

I love this song.  So simple yet so powerful all at the same time.  I don't think I could have said it better myself!

I will use today to be thankful.

Thankful for my family, friends and all of you who have stood by me and made this journey so much better than I could have ever imagined on that day four years ago when I heard those words and wondered. . .

Wondered what my future {with MS} would hold.  I don't have to wonder anymore.  For it is an amazing life I lead and even though there are bad days, there are so many more good great days!

Here's to hoping that someday I won't have to worry about how to commemorate this day because this day will be a distant memory as I celebrate a world free of MS.

  1. You are inspiring, truly! I love that you've taken MS and turned it into a cause and a passion through the walks, fundraising, etc. Way to go :)

  2. So beautiful Jodi! I love your outlook on the whole thing, it is truly inspiring! Never forget that! xo

  6. I love your whole outlook on this. Such an inspirations!

  7. I've always wondered what to do about my "anniversaries" of getting sick too. I kind of have two, one of actually being sick, and one of being diagnosed, more than a year apart. Fortunately one of them is also my friend's birthday, so that helps distract me. :)
