Personalized iPad Case

So ADORABLE right?!  I LOVE it!  When I first bought my iPad in March I settled for a boring black, leather iPad case that I ordered from amazon but now I finally have a beautiful personalized iPad case from Sweet Tea Paperie.  You want one too right?

It looks like a fancy notebook when closed.  Then you open it up and it makes a little stand to use it horizontal.  Brilliant!  It is a hard case that I think will really protective my iPad (in case I ever drop it since it has already been known to happen)!  The front and back are fabric/canvas and the binding is leather.

I decided to go with my entire first name rather than a monogram to change things up a bit.  I have a monogrammed iPhone case.

What do you think?  What do you keep your iPad in?

P.S. I don't think you will find the iPad case on the website yet but it will be available soon!  Amanda was very generous and let me be the "test" case since she doesn't have an iPad.  Thanks so much Amanda!

Weekend Recap

On Saturday I drove down to the Cape for the much anticipated Martina McBride concert.  I met up with my parents and grandmother first for dinner.  It was my grandmother's last night visiting so I'm glad I got to see her one last time before she flew back to Florida.

This was my first time to see a show at the Cape Cod Melody Tent and I'm not sure why I waited so long.  It is an awesome place to see a concert!  It only has 2,300 seats and all are within 50 feet of the stage.  The stage is located in the center and rotates (very slowly) throughout the show.  Are seats were great and we were pretty close to the stage.

Martina is so beautiful (and so tiny).  She was really relaxed and laid back during the show and mentioned several times how much she loves performing there and that it is her "favorite place to perform!"  Wow!  They played a good mix of old and new songs and even did several covers which were awesome.  All and all it was a great show and my mom and I had a lot of fun.  {And special thanks to my dad who gave us door to door service so we didn't have to worry about parking and fighting the traffic!}

Sunday I took advantage of having free laundry!  While I waited for it I saw on the deck and watched the ocean.  It was so calm and pretty.  I had to leave as soon as my laundry was done b/c I had to work in the afternoon for a few hours.

After working very hard (Ha!) I had to treat myself to some pinkberry oh and I was "hydrating" for my walk.

When I got home I got dressed in workout clothes with every intention of walking a few miles.  But then I made the mistake of sitting down "for just a few minutes" and then I discovered The Notebook was on.  Crap!  Why did I turn on the tv!?  I sat for a few more minutes and then realized how tired I was.  So as you can probably guess I didn't end up taking a walk.  The MS Challenge Walk is only 11 days away and I'm already feeling the pain of those 50 miles. . .

How was your weekend?

Why I'm Glued To My Cell Phone. . .

is because you never know when an emergency will arise.  The one time I didn't bring my cell phone with me to lunch at work is when I missed one of those calls (well I actually missed about eight).  I always have my cell phone on me at work and typically bring it into the cafeteria during lunch.  I also carry a work phone and typically bring that too.  For some reason on Tuesday I put both of them down on my desk and went to lunch.  Blame it on the complicated case at work - maybe I just needed a thirty minute break from the stress of it all.

Well NEVER again.  During the time I was away from my phone one of my family members had a medical emergency and several members of my family were trying to reach me both via my cell phone and work phone.  The additional stress they were caused by not being able to reach me was unnecessary.  If I had just  had my phone on me I would have answered and saved them the extra thirty minutes of worry. . .

Fortunately I did get their messages within a fairly short amount of time and was able to leave work to be with my family.

So next time someone gives me a hard time for being "glued" to my phone I'll just ignore them!  I know that we all need breaks from calls, texts, emails, FB and twitter but I also know the importance of being able to reach people during an emergency.

All is ok now.  Thank God.

(Sorry for the vagueness of what happen.  But since it isn't about me it really isn't my right to share it here.  Some things are just personal).

Oh and to make myself feel better I did a little retail therapy last night. . .

I treated myself to this necklace!  Love it!  It only made me feel a little bit better.  {Sigh}

Two Things Tuesday: Elon and MAAV

Well the 2012 Princeton Review for "Top Party Schools" was announced today and Elon was once again not on it.  Am I disappointed?  Heck no!  I am much prouder to say that I graduated from "The Most Beautiful College Campus."  I've know it all along.  I spent four years living on these beautiful grounds!

I know how fortunate I was to not only going to college but to go to someplace as amazing as Elon.  I'm so thankful for the education and experiences Elon gave me!

In other news, last night  I got together with these lovely ladies (and Rebecca not pictured) to make the annual domestic violence awareness bracelet for MAAV.  They are beautiful and we will be selling them in and around Melrose very soon!  Let me know if you are interested in buying one for $20!

Here is a sneak peak!
{The purple beads look much prettier in person than they do on my iPhone picture.}

Well that is it for today!  Have a great Tuesday!

Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend went by way too fast (as always).  Friday night started out with a massage which was much needed.  My lower back and right hip have really been bothering me lately.  My massage therapist killed me massaged that area to loosen it up.  May need to squeeze in one more massage prior to the MS Challenge Walk aka 50 miles in 3 days. . .

I had froyo for dinner and finally finished book 3 of Fifty Shades. . . I was surprised with the ending, kind of anti-climatic.  They were fun books to read.  Now I'm onto Emily Giffin's "Where We Belong" and I already love it.

Saturday I met Danielle and this little lady, Scarlett, for lunch at PF Chang's.  She is 4 months old now and so super cute.  I hadn't seen her since right after she was born so she has changed a lot!  It was fun catching up and eating yummy food.

Saturday afternoon I made this yummy dessert for Sunday.  First time I had made it and it was good but very very sweet!

Sunday we had a family cookout since my grandmother is up visiting from Florida.  It was actually her first time to meet Neely and they became fast friends (that usually happens when you show up with a box of dog treats)!

It was a beautiful day so we hung out in the backyard and the girls played wiffle ball.  Ella is obsessed and kept calling for "Uuunnncle Scccccooooott" to come play more!

Peyton took her usual turn with my camera and captured these shots.  I love how most of the photos are of her looking up at people.  Great angle (not)!

And then this happen.  Oh yes it wouldn't be possible for me to go a month without some car issue.  My brother happen to go get something from his car and noticed my tire was going flat.  Turns out I had a nail in it.  Fortunately I was able to call AAA and have them change it out.  Peyton and Ella were fascinated with the process.  Not I have to find someplace to plug the tired - that is on my to do list for today.

We celebrated Jenn's birthday with some cupcakes.  Peyton and Ella couldn't wait to blow out the candles!

Then it was time for Ma to head back to the Cape.  We always have a great time when Ma visits!

It was a great weekend!  I have a busy week ahead so I'm hoping that means it will go by very fast!

My Pretty Nails (And A Product That Will Change Your Life)!

I'm not messing around.  This product will truly change.your.life.  It will save you hours of polishing and repolishing your nails.  This product was brought to my attention my the wonderful Kelly and I'm so thankful she shared about it.  Now I'm going to share with all of you!

Yup this little bottle of clear nail polish will change your life.  It is AMAZING!  I was never one to do my own nails b/c they would chip so quickly. . . not anymore.  Seche Vite is like the chip proof top coat.  I LOVE it.  I also bought the base coat.  The combo is awesome and my polish will literally last a whole week with no chips.  And the best part is that I bought this polish at CVS for like 6 bucks!  Yay!

So I picked up some fun colors at CVS and have done my own nails 3 whole times.  That has saved me like at least $40 bucks in manicures!!  Score!  Oh and the polishes above - some cheap brand b/c why spend a lot of crazy colors especially when I have the amazing Seche Vite that will keep even the cheap polish from chipping!?

So what do you think?  Have you tried it?  I'm not kidding that it will be the best top coat you have ever used.  So this weekend get yourself some and you can thank me (and Kelly) later!

Happy weekend and happy nail polishing!

*These are my own opinions and I am not being compensated by Seche Vite.

Thursday Thoughts

I'm linking up with Sar today b/c this post will be just a bunch of random things (the best kind of post)!

Not sure if I've ever mentioned that I'm on the Fashion Plates committee as well as being a model in the fashion show.  We've been meeting regularly to get everything ready for an amazing show.  But don't worry - we have plenty of fun at the meetings complete with wine, food and dessert!

Right now we are all busy getting donations to put in the amazing raffle baskets.  Each basket is valued at well over $1,000!  I've just secured a few donations this week that I'm really excited about!!  The committee is a lot of fun and I've made some really great friends though it.

Another committee I'm on is the Annual Walk committee for MAAV.  I'm actually on the leadership team for this committee and recently we met to set the committee dates, plans, etc.  Tonight is our first committee meeting for the entire committee and I'm excited to get things started.  Soon we will unveil our annual domestic violence awareness bracelet which is really pretty!

Last night I went to dinner with Joana and Carter.  We went to our usual spot near my work which is a Mexican restaurant.  Carter that it was pretty cool to have milk and water and had to try both at the same time.  He is such a cutie!

I was very excited about my drink too. . . a margarita w/ a sangria floater. . . best of both worlds!
It was delicious!!  Oh and my drink was $9.00 while my dinner was only $8.99.  If that is wrong then I don't want to be right.  Ha!

The other night I also got to see Laney.  She is getting so big and she talks a lot now.  I hadn't seen her in a while so it was fun to hear her talk.  She is such a sweetie!

I finally got "THE NECKLACE" that pretty much every other blogger has.  It is fun and I'm glad I got the cheap version.  It is kind of heavy!  I'm excited to put together a few different outfits to wear it with.  Do you have one?  Outside of the blogging world I don't think they are as popular!

Ok well that is all for today.  Sorry for the random post today but that's all I've got!

Happy Thursday!

What I've Been Wearing

I'm not one to typically do outfit posts (mainly b/c I have nobody to take the pictures of me and the clothes just don't look as cute on the iPhone pics) but I shared these on Instagram/Twitter this week. I will share here too in case you missed them. . . You may notice that my outfits often revolve around my necklaces.  Yes I do pick my jewelry first then the outfit.  What can I say - I love me some statement necklaces!

This is my FAVORITE of all my necklaces right now.  It is Stella and Dot and just gorgeous!  I always get compliments on it.  I can wear it with so many different things which I love.  Oh and those blue capris - got them at Target for super price and I have to say they were probably my best summer purchase b/c I've worn them numerous times and always with a different top.  They are so versatile!

Another Stella and Dot fave!  This necklace looks good w/ so many things and I love it w/ this chambray top.

Oh look the blue capris again!  Told you I wear them a lot!  I was really excited when I realized I could "layer" these two necklaces.  The short one is Stella and Dot and the long one is Park Lane.  I think they look so pretty together.  I know you can't really tell from the crappy iPhone pics but the top is gold w/ a bit of shimmer to it.

So there ya have it.  What I've been wearing lately.  I finally got a bubble necklace too.  So when I wear that to work I'll be sure to take some pics of it.  You'll have to continue to settle for iPhone pics b/c even if I did have someone around to take pics I think I would feel way too silly!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Weekend Recap

This weekend was just so so (due to a number of factors).  I hate weekends like that!  Oh well.  Another one will be around in five days and hoping it will be way better.

Friday afternoon started off with some disappointing news from a friend. . . the results of this news is leading to me likely canceling my trip to Portland and Seattle at the end of the month.  More about that to come once I  have it all figured out.  Le sigh.

Fortunately I had fun plans on Friday night so no time for feeling sad. . . I met up with my Aunt Cathy for dinner at Solea which is a Spanish tapas restaurant.  It was SO good.  We had the most delicious Cava Sangria and some delicious tapas.  I love tapas restaurants!

After dinner we went to see the musical, My Fair Lady, put on by the Reagle Players.  We saw a show by them last year too.  Actually the lead of My Fair Lady, Sarah Pfisterer was also played Maria when we saw Sound of Music last year!  She is AMAZING!  I really loved this show.  I'm surprised that I had never seen it (or the movie) and didn't know the story.  I'll have to add the movie to my "to see" list especially since it was the movie my parents saw on their first date.

On Saturday, after walking 3 miles, I got ready and went to the Cape.  As you can see the weather wasn't the best.  My main purpose of going was to visit with my grandmother who is up from Florida.  Unfortunately she wasn't feeling well and ended up napping most of the time I was there.  It was ok though - gave me time to read book 3 of Fifty Shades. . . I sat out on the porch and looked at the pool and ocean (which you can hardly see in this pic since it is blending in w/ the sky).

That night I went out to dinner with my parents.  We just sat at the bar at a local chain restaurant.  It should have been an uneventful evening but always have to have a little drama right!?  This guy (who was not young) tried to pick a fight w/ my dad over a bar stool.  He was yelling and making a scene and the bartender had to tell him to knock it off.  His wife was pretty embarrassed too and tried to get him to leave.  Ugh!

Check out that dessert.  It was a cannoli dessert and so so good.  It is consider a "mini" dessert but it was just the right size.  I'm craving it and will be getting it again before it goes off the menu!  Yum!

Sunday was a quiet morning and then I worked in the afternoon (for one of my private practice clients).

I had to treat myself on the way home - since I was starving and in a grumpy mood. . .

Ahhhh pinkberry.  Thanks for tasting oh so good!

And if I'm being completely honest. . . didn't even stay awake for the closing ceremonies of the Olympics.  I was tired and grumpy and figured a good night of sleep would be a better option!

How was your weekend??

Nantucket

Yesterday was a fabulous day!  I went to Nantucket with two lovely ladies, Ilka and Missy.  We had such a great day and I only wish we could have stayed longer.  This was my second trip ever to Nantucket and it is such a great place to visit.  I look forward to going back again soon so I can explore the island even more.  Here is a recap of our day. . .

This was our view from the ferry in Hyannis.  Not looking too good right?!  Well luckily the weather changed a lot (like it typically does on the Cape).  We left Boston at 6 AM (so early but worth it) and took the 8 AM fast ferry to Nantucket which got us there at 9 AM leaving us with a whole day to explore.

Our first stop was breakfast. I had some delicious pancakes and "natural" bacon (not sure what the unnatural bacon would have been like?)  Oh and if you are trying to stick pinch pennies don't go to Nantucket - it isn't cheap.  If I had wanted to add chocolate chips to my pancakes (which I really would have loved) it would have cost an extra $3.95.  No thank you!  Ha!

After our expensive delicious breakfast we decided to rent bikes so we could really explore the island.  We tried to bargain with the guy but no such luck.  Bikes are $25 per day which really isn't that bad of a deal. . . especially since they come with Nantucket baskets!

First stop (after a 3 mile - part cobblestone street - uphill ride) was at Cisco Brewers.  This place is very cool because they have three things in one location - vodka, wine and beer.  They also have a big picnic area with corn hole and live music!  Oh and as you can see from the picture (bottom right) a lot of people rides bikes on Nantucket.

We decided to do the wine tasting.  For $10 you get to taste all 10 of their wines and keep the glass.  Don't worry they were very small tastes (no drunk cycling here).  They also have red and white sangria and a blueberry lemonade.  Yum!  After our tasting Missy and Ilka tried the beer while I enjoyed a glass of sangria.  We had a great time hanging out!

We continued our bike ride down the road to the local farm that had a fancy grocer store.  We grabbed some sandwiches and chips and sat outside and ate.  They had beautiful gardens including a field of sunflowers.  They were too far for me to get a pic so you have to settle for these other flowers.  Oh and check out that Oreo cookie cow.  Too cute!  I love cows and had to stop to get a picture.

Our next stop was at Cisco Beach.  The waves were huge, the water was a beautiful teal color and the sky was clear!  We hung out in the sand for a while to relax and soak up some sun.  It was wonderful.  Oh and check out some of the houses we saw on the ride into the beach.  Amazing!  There is a joke on the island when someone asks for directions. . . "take a left at the gray house with white trim."  Ha!

We got back into town and dropped off our bikes.  We walked around Main Street and went into some stores.  We were good and sweaty!  It really was the most gorgeous day.  Blue sky and tons of sun with a slight breeze = perfect!

Unfortunately all good things come to an end.  We had to catch a 6 PM ferry but stopped for an ice cream first!  We couldn't leave the island without sampling the ice cream!

As soon as we got on the ferry the weather changed.  It was just like the weather in the morning.  It was the strangest thing.  It was overcast and gray!  I never would have believed the weather could change so quickly and so dramatically unless I had seen it myself!

As the ferry was pulling out of the island I grabbed some photos of the lighthouse and coast line.  Still pretty even with the gray sky!

We made it back to Hyannis at 7 PM and drove home.  Surprisingly there was no traffic going over the bridge but then we hit a bunch closer to Boston.  We still made good time and we were home by 9!  A very long day but a great day.

I'm so glad that we made this spontaneous decision to take a day trip to Nantucket.  I only hope I can have a few more fun summer day trips before the end of August!

What did you do this weekend??
