Chicago Weekend - Day 3

Today I'm posting about my third and final day in Chicago.  Make sure you read about Day 1 and Day 2 first!

On Sunday we has another slow start but made it over to Wrigley Field around noon for a tour.  Fenway Park will always be my favorite ballpark but I must admit that Wrigley Field is pretty cool too!  Wrigley is the 2nd oldest ballpark left in America and it was really neat to hear a lot of the history on it.

Above are views of the field from different spots.  The bottom right picture is of the bars/restaurants outside the park.  You may notice the bleachers on top of the bars.  People can buy "tickets" to go there to watch the game (and eat and drink).  Pretty cool right!  The Cubs even get 17% of the money made from each bar!

We really got to see everything!  We went into the press box, both club houses and all around the ballpark.  It was fun to see "behind the scenes" and learn so much about it.

At the end of the tour we got to go on the field!  I even got to sit in the dugout.  This was a really fun experience and I want to do another tour of Fenway Park now (I've only down a private/express tour through a mentoring event I went to there).

We then went to the Sears Tower so we could go up 103 floors to see the Sky Deck.  This was really cool (but if you are afraid of heights I suggest you skip this attraction)!  There is a glass portion that you can stand in to have a great view of the entire city!

Yes we are suckers and fell for the tourist trap of buying the picture.  But you have to admit that it is pretty cool!!!

The views were amazing!  Even though it was a little overcast we could still see for so far.  The architecture looked amazing from up so high!

We had a great time but had to make our visit to the Sky Deck short so that I could get to the airport to come home.  I'm pretty impressed with all I got to see in the 3 days I was there.  I really feel like I got a good sense of the city.  Mark was a great tour guide!

If you have never been to Chicago I recommend you add it to your list of places to see!

Next up in my trip to Ireland at the end of May!!!!!!

  3. Looks like so much fun! I've only been once to Chicago- in February, so it was cold and then I got food poisoning the first night. I think I'm going to have to go back, in warmer weather!
