Since I'll be out late tonight for the Boston Fireworks I thought I would recap my weekend so far. I spent Friday through Sunday on The Cape. I ended up taking a last minute vacation day on Friday to beat the traffic but I the rest of New England had the same idea! It took me 3 hours (which is twice as long) to get there!
As soon as I got to my parent's house I got to work making the Pioneer Woman's Sangria. I've been wanting to try it for a while and figured it would be the perfect addition to the BBQ I was going to at Jaime's house that evening. Thursday night I ran to Target (one of my fave places ever) looking for something to put the sangria in and I was SO excited that they had this b/c I always see them in pics on people's blogs and think they are so fun for parties. I got it for $20 which I think was a pretty good deal. Oh and the sangria was delicious! (I forgot to take a pic before we started drinking)!
After a quick BBQ at Jaime's house, Emily and I headed to Hyannis for an a capella concert. This group, The Hyannis Sound, is pretty popular on The Cape and I saw them once last summer. They are REALLY talented and always put on such a fun show. This was their 4th of July show so they dressed the part and sang every patriotic song known to man along w/ many other songs. If you are ever on The Cape I highly recommend seeing these guys. They perform all summer long.
Saturday I decided to have a lazy and relaxing day which consisted sitting on the couch while reading blogs on my laptop! After a while I decided I wanted to go to one of my favorite Cape stores, Currents. My mom and I took a ride over and I found this adorable starfish ring. I love it. I think it is so fun for the summer. I also got a really pretty necklace and a white watch which I had been wanting for summer. They stuff there is really nice but pretty cheap prices so I love it. Oh and check out my nails. I got my first ever Shellac manicure and I LOVE it. I might be addicted (if I can afford to keep getting them that is)!
Saturday night I went to Emily's house in Harwich. We enjoyed a drink in the back yard while watching the water skiers on the lake.
After Happy Hour we went to Brax Landing for dinner. Here I am w/ Erin, Emily and Nicole (Eric and Chris not pictured). We enjoyed a drink by the water but it was chilly so we soon went inside for our delicious dinner. We had big plans for after dinner drinks but it was late and places were too crowded so we ended up just going back to Emily's house. It was a really fun night. Oh and I got to wear my new favorite dress that I got at The Limited a few weeks ago. You will probably see me wearing it several more times this summer! Haha!
Sunday I again had a relaxing morning but then decided I needed to get some exercise. I went for a long walk and took some pictures along the way. When I think of The Cape in the summer I always think of hydrangeas. They are everywhere on The Cape and are one of my very favorite flowers.
A few other pretty shots during my walk.
And since it is 4th of July weekend had to show of some of the flags displayed! All the flags looked so pretty.
Sunday afternoon my mom and I went to lunch at Tugboats. It was REALLY windy so sitting outside on the water ended up not being quite as much fun as it usually is. We enjoyed a frozen beverage and some delicious food.
After our late lunch we ran into a few stores including one of our faves, Colorful Creations, which sadly is closing this summer. We are both bummed since this is an awesome scrapbooking store and a great addition to the community. Then I headed back to Jaime's for another BBQ. I had to have s'mores which I love and always think about on summer holiday weekends. Well instead of traditional s'mores I made s'mores bars. They were pretty easy to make and everyone thought they were delicious. When I make them again I would add more chocolate but other than that they were great.
Now I'm back home in Boston. Going to run a couple of errands today and then tonight Emily, Beth and I are going on a Boston Harbor cruise to see the fireworks! It will be our first time doing something like this and I'm very excited. It will be a late night but hopefully it will be worth it to have a different view of the fireworks.
