I ♥ Weekends. . .

but why do they always go by so fast? I try to balance my weekends with time to do fun things and time to relax. I just don't think weekends are long enough to be able to do both the way I want! Weekends should be longer!

Friday I attended a conference on Elder Law. It was nice to be out of the hospital and it was a great conference. Three different attorneys (all experts in Elder Law) spoke/facilitated. The information was very helpful to me since I would with a lot of elders in my role as a medical social worker at the hospital. Coming from my last job as an adoption social worker I obviously never needed to know Elder Law. The covered many things such as Medicare, Medicaid, Nursing Home Laws, Guardianship, Health Care Proxy, Durable Power of Attorney, etc. I learned a lot. Not only will all the info be helpful in my job but also in my real life. I plan to talk to my parents to tell them about things I learned!

After the conference I went to babysit two of my favorite little people. They are 6 year old twins and I've watched them since they were infants. We went out for dinner/ice cream at a cute restaurant in the area and had fun playing tic tac toe and doing "fortune tellers" (remember those things you made w/ paper and wrote numbers, colors and then finally a fortune in?) Once home one of the adorable children had the temper tantrum of all temper tantrums! Wow! Just b/c I asked them to brush teeth and go to the bathroom. Obviously extreme tiredness have something to do w/ said temper tantrum. One kid went to bed and other kid proceeded to have tantrum for next 1.5 hours. Then exhaustion set in and sleep. Phew! I don't know how you parents do it. It is a good thing I love these two and that their parents are so supportive!!

On Saturday morning I went to Franklin for the annual Relay for Life.  My sister-in-law's family created a team many years ago and for the last 4 or 5 years I've walked with them.  It is a great event but pretty much rains every year!  This year was no different.  Luckily we got some good walking in before the down pours.  Peyton and Ella had a lot of fun getting piggy back rides from anyone who would provide them.  Their papa was good at shoulder rides too!  There were a lot of awesome raffle prizes but unfortunately I didn't win any!

Afterwards I went over to Peyton and Ella's house to play.  I gave them the books and little gifts I got them in London.  We then read each book, "Katie in London" and "Ella Bella Ballerina" (Ella's nickname is Ella Jo Bella).  We also played iPhone games since both girls are obsessed with playing w/ my iPhone.  Thankfully their mom got an iPhone recently so now they can both play at the same time!

So let me tell you the cute story behind the above pics.  Peyton wanted to play "train" and needed the little chair Ella had but Ella wouldn't give it to her.  Then  a few minutes later Ella decided she wanted to play train and Peyton said no.  Ella turned around and pouted (classic Ella move) and Peyton went over to her and gave her a hug and kiss (middle pic) and said, "Ella you can play w/ me."  To which Ella replied, "Peyton you are my best friend."  Aren't they the cutest?  They are such buddies and good playmates and it is fun to watch.  They proceeded to play train with all the little chairs and baby carriages lined up.  Peyton said they were taking the train to Boston to go to my house.  I taught them to say "All Aboard" which was pretty funny!

Oh Neely!  Also known as crazy puppy!  Not sure if I have mentioned it before but I seem to have an "effect" on Neely.  I think it is b/c she really likes me.  She basically goes CRAZY when she sees me.  Like really, really crazy!  She hasn't seen me in a few weeks so I think she was very happy to see me yesterday.  She won't leave me alone the whole time I'm there.  She jumps all over me, bites me, kisses me, sits on me, etc.  When I say she sits on me I mean it.  She thinks she is much smaller than she is and she literally will sit on me including on my head.  She even got my earring off my ear and I thought she had eaten it but luckily I found it in the couch cushion - back still missing!  Neely also loves to give kisses and was licking my entire face for way too long.  I finally hid under a blanket so she wouldn't be able to get to my face.  Of course all the kisses led to major allergy issues for me!  Good thing I love that dog.  One of these days she'll calm down and sit w/ me nicely.  Until them I may need to wear a protective suit!! :)

I got this in the mail on Saturday!  It is a terrible iPhone picture but you get the idea.  It is the CERTIFICATE OF TITLE from the RMV.  Yes that's right I now have paid off my Jeep and own it!  This is the first time I've paid off a car in full.  I bought it brand new in 2006.  Praying that is stays "healthy" and doesn't need any major repairs for quite some time.  The car payment money will now go to the credit card bill to pay off my English Holiday!  Woo hoo!!  Very exciting!

Sunday was another rainy day in the 60s.  Is it June?  Someone needs to fill in the weather gods.  I decided to have a relaxing morning which of course included watching "Say Yes To The Dress" and reading blogs.  How is it possible that I did that for almost 3 hours and it felt like 5 minutes?  It was a nice morning but I had some errands that I wanted to do so I headed out.  First stop - Target.  Always a big mistake when I'm trying to be conservative about my spending - $50 bucks later I had everything I "needed."

Next stop was Wilson Farm.  I've been craving local strawberries in a bad way.  I wanted to go picking this weekend but due to the weather it didn't happen.  So I figured I would head to one of my favorite farms to get some.  Wilson Farm holds a special place in my heart b/c we always stopped there on our way to visit my Nana and Grampy's house.  The farm has grown and has a fancy grocery store.  Think Whole Foods only better.  I got lots of fresh fruit, homemade apple crisp, some prepared food (lemon pepper chicken, mashed sweet potatoes and asparagus) and was tempted to buy fresh flowers but resisted since I had already spent enough money for today!  Despite the grayish weather it was a nice day.  I can't wait to eat all the delicious food I got.

Now I'm home watching tv and blogging.  Feeling sad that another weekend has come to an end way too fast!  Already looking forward to next weekend that is filling up quickly with fun plans!

How was your weekend?  Do anything interesting?
